All America Bank, Mustang, OK
The Huckabay family owns three separate banks in Oklahoma, and having been in the banking business for nearly 100 years, had seen technology begin to rapidly advance in the late 1990’s. While big banks were able to take advantage of the rapidly changing technology to offer new services to clients and drive down the cost of technology on a per employee basis, community banks were not able to leverage these technological advances to the same extent larger competitors had. Community banks often had to rely on small outside I.T. firms with limited knowledge of banking or on vendors that were focused solely on their products.
Wade Huckabay, commenting about the selection of the name, Redneck Bank®, said "We chose the name Redneck Bank® because we wanted it to be fun. People work hard to support themselves and their families, and we thought, why not do something that would combine fun with good service and solid banking practices? We chose BankOnIT because we knew they understood not only the technical requirements but also the regulatory, security, reliability and operational challenges of going from a small town community bank to an institution doing business across 5 time zones." Wade further commented, "We have had stories about Redneck Bank® in many newspapers across the country, including The New York Times and Money Magazine, published by The Wall Street Journal. We have had radio interviews and blog entries on the web too numerous to count. We view BankOnIT as a trusted partner and would not be where we are today without their help.
In 2003, Wade Huckabay and a group of fellow bankers decided that there had to be a better way for community banks to harness technology so that they could more effectively compete with larger organizations and control I.T. costs. The result was BankOnIT. The Huckabay banks became charter clients in 2003 and remain clients of BankOnIT today.
One of their banks selected the name Redneck Bank® for its new online bank name and turned to BankOnIT for assistance with strategic planning that would address technical needs, vendor negotiation, regulatory assistance and online marketing of the sites.
